Respirator Fit Tester Theory of Operation

Theory of Operation of the TSI Portacount

This document provides an understanding of how the TSI Portacount works. It provides a detailed picture of the inner workings of the Portacount showing the flow of sampled air through the Portacount. The Portacount Respirator Fit Tester works by measuring the concentration of microscopic dust particle in the ambient air and then measuring the concentration of those dust particles that leak into the respirator. The ratio of these two concentrations is called the Fit Factor.
